Memento is an iOS application developed and published by Jabar Studios Ltd. Privacy is foundational to how Memento is built. This document sets out what information is processed, where it lives, and what rights you hold over it.
Data We Collect
Memento does not collect, store, or transmit personal data to Jabar Studios or any third party. The application is built on a local-first architecture.
Location:
Memento requests access to your device location solely to calculate precise astronomical events, including sunrise, sunset, golden hour, moon phase, and seasonal transitions. These calculations are processed entirely on your device using Apple's CoreLocation framework. Your location data is never sent to Jabar Studios or any third party.
Preferences and Settings:
Your theme selections, display preferences, clock formats, and notification settings are stored locally on your device. If you have iCloud enabled, these preferences may be securely synced across your devices using your private iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit. Jabar Studios has no access to this data.
Notifications:
Reminders for natural events such as sunrise, sunset, golden hour, equinoxes, and solstices are scheduled locally on your device. Memento does not use an external push notification server.
Widgets:
Memento provides home screen and lock screen widgets that display your time and celestial progress. These widgets read your location calculations and theme preferences from the same secure on-device storage as the main app. The widgets do not transmit any data externally.
Purchases:
If you choose to unlock all themes via a one-time purchase, the transaction is processed securely by Apple through the App Store. Jabar Studios does not receive, process, or store your payment details. Purchase status is stored on your device and within your private Apple ID account to support purchase restoration.
Feedback:
If you choose to contact us through the feedback option in Settings, you are sending a voluntary email to hello@jabarstudios.com. We use the information provided solely to respond to your inquiry and improve the app.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, share, rent, or disclose your data to any third party. Memento does not utilise advertising networks, external analytics services, or tracking technologies. Any crash reports or performance metrics are handled entirely through Apple's native, opt-in systems, which provide only anonymous, aggregated data.
Your Rights and Data Deletion
Because your data is stored locally and within your private iCloud container, you retain full control over it.
You may revoke location or notification permissions at any time through your iOS Settings.
To delete all app data, remove Memento from your device and clear its data from your iCloud settings via Settings → Your Name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage. Once removed, your data cannot be recovered by Jabar Studios because we never had access to it.
Children's Privacy
Memento is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected by the date at the top of this document. Continued use of Memento after a change indicates your acceptance of the revised policy.
